Types of Fasteners
- Bolts and Screws
- Bolts: Typically used with a nut or a pre-tapped hole. They provide a strong, secure hold and are available in various head styles such as hex, square, and round.
- Screws: Designed to be threaded directly into a material. They come in many varieties, including wood screws, machine screws, and self-tapping screws.
- Nails
- Commonly used in construction for tasks like framing, roofing, and finishing. Nails are driven into materials (usually wood) using a hammer or nail gun.
- Nuts and Washers
- Nuts: Paired with bolts to secure joints. Types include hex nuts, wing nuts, and lock nuts.
- Washers: Used to distribute the load of a bolt or screw. They prevent damage to the material and can also help prevent loosening.
- Rivets
- Permanent fasteners used in applications where disassembly is not expected. They are commonly used in metalwork and aircraft construction.
- Anchors
- Used to attach objects to materials like concrete or drywall. Types include expansion anchors, toggle bolts, and wall plugs.
- Pins
- Cotter Pins: Used to secure other fasteners.
- Dowel Pins: Provide precise alignment in assemblies.

- Used for temporary or semi-permanent
